I use this connector in microcontroller designs where the ISP connector shall be accessible from the outside, "in the field".
Instead of the mechanically unstable 6-pin flat connector usually used for in system programming Atmel's AVR microcontrollers, I am now designing my projects with a 6-contact Mini-DIN plug instead (the same used e.g. for PS/2 keyboard or mouse connections). Pin assignment looks like this:
1U6 2 ^ 5 3 4 1 MISO 2 Vcc 3 SCK 4 MOSI 5 RESET 6 GND
This follows the standard 6-pin ISP pin assignment, which, for reference, looks like this when looking onto the pin header (PCB part side):
1 2 3 4 5 6 1 MISO 2 Vcc 3 SCK 4 MOSI 5 RESET 6 GND
